Kiftsgate Court Gardens Chipping
Campden Gloucestershire
Our fourth garden was Kiftsgate, close by to
Bourton House. Kiftsgate was built during 1887 to 1813 and is a lovely garden,
but the black pool with metal lilies were not to our taste, thankfully it was
hidden behind a tall hedge.. The long borders had magnificent Martagon lilies
and Dictamnus which obviously grow well in the Cotswolds as we had seen them in
most of the gardens. We loved the sunken white garden and spent a long time
there, too long in fact, because we didn’t have time to get down to the lower
garden with crescent pool and ha-ha. There were lots of roses as expected, and
many other very interesting plants we had not seen before. The clock was ticking
fast, but we did make time for a nice lunch in the restaurant. There was a
decent plant sales area, and judging by the number of bags containing plants in
the coach when we left, most of the group had bought plants.
